Hello Spring & hello beautiful but deadly Cherry Blossoms! With it finally being Spring and the weather beyond amazing (still need a light jacket), I finally put away my Winter clothing! My favorite thing about Spring (minus it's warm, not hot like Summer weather ) would be the constant rain. I love rain. I live for thunderstorms. I do not know what it is about thunderstorms that puts me at ease but I find myself writing more than ever then. Snuggling up with a glass of wine is the best feeling ever.

Some of you have asked me numerous times why I decided to take a month-long hiatus from blogging. I am finally sitting down and giving you all the details that you guys have been asking for. As many of you know, I have been blogging for almost 3 years now and even though in the beginning, blogging wasn't as popular as it is now, I didn't feel the need to compete with other bloggers.
Seeing bloggers only blogging to gain followers with shit content and brands wanting to work with them for that brought me down a little. When did blogging become about that? Aside from that, I just didn't feel like blogging. I felt like I was turning into someone I wasn't and I really just needed a break to re-find myself in order to gain back the motivation that I lost. The year had just started but I was already stressed out. I was feeling overwhelmed trying to come up with new content for you guys.
So, the majority of you wondered how I overcame my blogging block. I was going to say writer's block, but I do a lot of writing on the side. Here are some things that I did to kick that blogging block to the curb.
1.Take a nap.
This was a little hard for me with my work schedule, so I would sleep for hours at first, but then I started setting alarms for about 30 minutes, which helped me to feel refreshed.
2.Go outside.
I know the weather has been super effing bipolar lately, so one day it's beautiful outside and the next it's freezing and you need a winter coat. Fresh air clears your head and gets you away from your computer.
3.Listen to music.
I am a sucker for Spotify. I have so many playlists that help me stay focused and write about three to four posts in one sitting.
4.Coffee Break.
Man, I crash so hard after having a cup of coffee it's ridiculous. I have been drinking hot chocolate lately and making myself lots of delicious smoothies at home to save money.
5. Take a step back to organize and just take on your tasks after some much needed rest.
Hopefully this was helpful for you guys and I hope it gave you guys some insight into where I was coming from.

So, quick story, I actually bought these Flared Denim from H&M last year and was on the hunt for them in my own apartment for the last couple of months. I couldn't remember for the life of me where I put them and I was so devastated because they were the dramatic flare I had been looking forever for! Turns out I put them away & just forgot where I put them until just the other day! I was livid with myself for forgetting, but trust me when I say I have been wearing them as much as I can before D.C experiences the desert Summer we have coming.

READY FOR SOME REAL TALK?
It's been a while since I shared any blogging tips
around here, and since blogging is one of my favourite things to talk about ( if you're friends with me, you'll know this all too well ), I thought it would be fun to pick a topic and dive right in. Are you guys interested? Since I am not currently full time, yet considering it, one of my biggest struggles has been staying inspired to create remarkable content that I'm proud to share with you guys... which is crazy, because when I was balancing a part-time fashion related job, I had no problem churning out four posts a week. Now, the content I published during those years wasn't always the strongest, but I was constantly inspired by what I was doing and excited to create more posts... seriously, the ideas never stopped. Sounds crazy, right? Well it kind of is, but it also kind of isn't. Prior to switching to self-hosting, I was creating content for me and for my readers the majority of the time, social media promos, and emails that accompany all these things. It's nuts and to be quite frank, it can seriously stifle creativity, and this, coupled with the pressure to create consistently strong content, can lead to some serious burnout. So here are a few things that have helped me beat those pesky burnout blues.
FIVE TIPS FOR BEATING BLOGGER BURNOUT
1. KNOW YOUR NICHE
We've ALL heard that one of the keys to successful blogging is a clearly having a defined niche, and I find that knowing what's happening within mine helps keep me inspired. I start every morning by looking at my favourite blogs, reading fashion news sites, scrolling through Instagram, watching Youtube videos, and flipping through magazines — basically, anything that has to do with fashion.
Seeing an amazing new designer item could give me an idea for a duplicated look, but with my own touch, or maybe one of the locations in this month's Vogue will remind me of a really cool spot in my city to shoot at next — you never know what you might come across during this process, which has quickly become one of my favourite and most beneficial parts of each day.
2. SHAKE IT UP
Referencing back to my last point, exposing yourself to new things, whether they are items, people or places & even food, can go a long way towards keeping you inspired. I find that my best ideas come from the most random places, and often exploring new things helps me see the world ( and especially my little blogging bubble ) in a new light... shake things up, and shake them up frequently!
3. TAKE A BREAK
The most forward approach to dealing with a blogger burnout is to take a break — powering down and rebooting your brain sounds pretty simple, but finding the time to actually do so can be pretty challenging. So how do you do it? Just do it! Make your well being your top priority, even if just for the afternoon, and you'll be amazed by how much better and more productive you'll feel when you get back down to business.
4. CUT YOURSELF SOME SLACK
If you do need to take a break, or if the ideas just aren't coming, don't beat yourself up over it. Dwelling on the feeling of being creatively blocked rather than accepting it and taking action against it will only make things worse. You're only human, and you can't be awesome all the time (trust me, I have tried), so just try and remember that once in a while, would you? And PLEASE don't compare yourself to others. Doing so will only make you feel worse than you are already feeling & isn't that what we are trying to avoid?
5. BACKSTOCK OR BUST
When it rains (speaking creatively of course) it pours, so try to keep a list of good ideas for future posts in one place; that way when you're stuck for what to do next, you can always go back to your list and say goodbye to blogger burnout. The same goes for Instagram — banking photos can seriously help you avoid gaps in your content. Plus having a sh*t ton of photos to draw from will help you avoid panicking when you haven't updated in a couple days and ensure that you don't put up something just for the sake of doing so.

I live for basics and usually tend to style my basics with a twist. My love for the simple White Tee has been transformed into my current obsession (which just so happens to be trending right now). That would be Band Tees or just old graphic tees in general that you can distress to turn them into something amazing and, of course, one of a kind. However, that is not the case with this specific tee. I actually purchased this from F21!
Before I continue, a few of you have asked me (thanks for the messages on Instagram) about how I would style basics. So, I wanted to write this post telling you all that I will be showcasing 13 wardrobe basics & how I style them. I am pretty excited about styling these basic looks because it's basically all I want to wear in the morning when I am getting ready for work.
With that being said I have decided that this would be look #1. I chose to style my band tee with distressed boyfriend jeans. I have mentioned before that boyfriend jeans were a wardrobe essential that everyone should own. Picking the wash of denim is all up to you. I have both light wash & medium wash boyfriend denim. There are many more possibilities with two shades in my book.
Adding a plaid button up around my waist & fishnet patterned tights under the jeans, this look was super fun and easy to style. I was stuck for awhile thinking about which outerwear to pick, but in the end I picked my Suede Moto Jacket which really brought the outfit together.
This grunge look was inspired by one of the first bloggers that I have been following since I started blogging. Lua from le-happy.com has been one of my sources of inspiration since the very beginning.
Stay tuned for look #2 and which basic essential I will be styling next!
xoxo
